新型ボルボXC60 Ultra B5 AWDの室内は、心地よい。
ファインナッパレザーを使った新型ボルボXC60 Ultra B5 AWDのシートは、疲れ知らず。各所を細かく調整できるから、理想的なドライビングポジションにセットできる。
改良に伴いレザーフリー素材の採用も拡大。最上級のUltraグレードでは、試乗車のファインナッパレザーに加え、100%リサイクルポリエステル素材「ネイビー・ヘリンボーンウィーブ」も無償オプションで選べる。
筆者もXC90の試乗車で、100%リサイクルポリエステル素材を体験したが、ファインナッパレザーにも劣らぬクオリティだった。
Plusグレードには、従来の本革シートに替わり、リサイクル素材とバイオベース素材から作られる「ノルディコ」シートを標準とした。ボルボの世界観を崩さず、環境に配慮しているのだ。
新型ボルボXC60は、全グレードにテイラード・ダッシュボードやオレフォス社製クリスタルシフトノブを採用。特に後者は、ボルボならではの装備だ。オレフォス社を知らない向きに記すと、スウェーデンのクリスタルブランド。1726年、スウェーデン南部のスモーランド地方に鉄工所として設立され、1898年よりガラス生産をスタートした。北欧らしい、シンプルでモダンなプロダクトが特徴。ちなみにノーベル賞の晩餐会では、オレフォスのワイングラス（ノーベル・シリーズ）が使われている。
BMWも一部モデルがクリスタルをあしらうが、ドイツではなくオーストリアのスワロフスキー製だ。それに対し、ボルボは自国のブランドを大切にする。
新型ボルボXC60は、センターコンソールのデザインも変更。2+1のカップホルダーや、より使いやすい位置に配置されたスマートフォンのワイヤレス充電器によって利便性を高めた。
