タグ・ホイヤーは、アメリカのLAを拠点とする「マルボン ゴルフ」とコラボレーションしたコネクテッド ウォッチ「TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 × Malbon Golf Edition」を発表した。マルボン ゴルフは感度が高いゴルファーに評判のライフスタイルブランドであり、両者は「若い世代にゴルフを楽しんでもらう」というミッションを共有している。
タグ・ホイヤーがコネクテッド ウォッチのファーストモデルを発表したのは2015年。スイスの高級時計ブランドでいち早く開発に着手してきた先駆者だ。新作は、スコアを記録するためにゲームを中断する必要はなく、ティーからグリーンまで、どのショットも記録することが可能。ユーザーのパフォーマンスから学習し、次第に適切なクラブを提案してくれるという。
デザインもユニークだ。マルボンゴルフを象徴するターコイズブルーとイエローが側面、プッシャー、リューズを彩る。限定の文字盤は2種類あり、メインのものには共同ブランドのロゴとタグ・ホイヤーのロゴ入りキャップを被ったマルボン ゴルフのキャラクターが描かれ、秒ごとに色が変わる。
近年はゴルフ機能に特化した腕時計が各社からリリースされているが、高級感や装着感など、腕時計としての完成度はラグジュアリーブランドのそれに軍配が上がる。ウブロのゴルフ時計はその好例だ。高級ウェアラブルウォッチの分野で存在感を増しているガーミンもチェックしておきたいところ。ファッションのアクセサリーとしてゴルフ愛好家のライフスタイルを豊かにするタイムピースが揃った。
