大阪・北新地「クラフトルーム」藤井隆とウォルドーフ・アストリア大阪がコラボ。バー「Canes & Tales」にスペシャルカクテルが登場
ザ・マッカランを使った3種の期間限定カクテルが誕生。フェア開催当日にはマスタークラスも敢行。その様子をリポートする。

ザ・マッカランと世界レベルのバーテンディング技術が融合したカクテルフェアが、2025年9月30日まで、ウォルドーフ・アストリア大阪のバー「Canes & Tales」で開催される。
今回のフェアを手掛けるのは、大阪・北新地「クラフトルーム」の藤井隆である。彼は2016年「WORLD CLASSグローバルファイナル」で準優勝、2023年「Asia's 50 Best Bars」で第28位にランクインするなど、アジアを中心にグローバルで高く評価されているバーテンダーだ。
初日となる8月27日には、藤井本人がバーカウンターに立ち、一夜限りの特別なカクテル体験を提供した。
開発されたカクテルは、どれもザ・マッカランの特性を深く理解した仕上がりだ。例えば「ブルーミングパンチ」では、桜もちの材料を液体で表現し、ミルクパンチの手法で仕立てたもの。ザ・マッカラン「シェリーオーク12年」 が全体を底支えし、和の繊細さとシングルモルトの力強さが見事に調和している。
「リッチネクター」は、従来のクリーンなカクテルとは一線を画す作品だ。フルーツをピューレ化し、バルサミコ酢で酸味を演出することで、果実のマチュアなコクと苦味を伴った酸味が骨格を形成している。ほうじ茶を合わせたマティーニスタイルは、フルーツカクテルの新たな回答とも言える味わいだ。
ハイボールベースのカクテル「オークハイボール」では、ザ・マッカラン「ダブルカスク 12年」をベースに烏龍茶とエルダーフレーバー、巨峰を組み合わせている。一般的なハイボールの爽快感とは異なり、コクのある深みと存在感のある太さを持つ、甘やかな一杯に仕上がっている。
藤井はウイスキーカクテル開発の難しさについて、「スコッチはすべてモルティで、麦芽の味わいが素材とバッティングすることがある」と語る。しかし「ザ・マッカランでやってよかったと思うことが多い」と話し、ブルーミングパンチの完成形もその成果の一つだと語っている。
会場となるケインズ＆テイルズは、ホテル28階に位置し、マンハッタンの隠れ家バーにオマージュを捧げた洗練された空間だ。大阪の夜景を一望しながら、シングルモルトの最高峰と日本のバーテンディング技術が織りなす至福のひとときを堪能できる。
また、フェアと並行して開催されたマスタークラスは、アンバサダーのGAKUがテイスティングをリードした。ラインアップは「ダブルカスク12年・18年」と「シェリーオーク12年・18年」、そして「ザ・マッカラン タイム：スペース マスタリー」。このテイスティングは最高のザ・マッカラン探しではない。水平垂直試飲を通じて見えてきたのは、「ダブルカスク」がマッカランの考える理想のウイスキー像を表現し、「シェリーオーク」がブランドの哲学そのものを体現しているというザ・マッカランのスタイルだ。
