6月25日、日産は、「パトロールNISMO」を発表した。
NISMOは、日産のモータースポーツ活動から生まれたハイパフォーマンスブランド。レースシーンで培った経験と技術を注ぎ込んだNISMOロードカーシリーズを世に送り出す。
新型日産パトロールNISMOは、高性能モデル開発を得意とするチームが、SUVの力強さとサーキット由来の高い技術を組み合わせて開発された。
新型日産パトロールNISMOが搭載する「VR35DDTT」エンジンは、NISMO専用チューニングにより最高出力495ps、最大トルク700Nmを発揮する。
日産のいわき工場で生産されるVR35DDTTエンジンには、NISMO専用の赤いエンジンカバーとスペシャルメタルプレートを装着。エンジンの高出力化に合わせてチュ―ニングされた9速ATとパドルシフトにより、直線でも山岳路でもダイレクトな走行感覚を提供するという。
新型日産パトロールNISMOは、高出力化されたエンジンに合わせて、深みと迫力感じるサウンドを奏でる専用のエキゾーストシステムを採用。エンジンサウンドの音質を高める、室内のアクティブサウンドエンハンスメント（ASE）システムと組み合わせる。
新型日産パトロールNISMOの足まわりには、NISMOによってチューニングされた電子制御ダンパーが、リアルタイムに減衰力を自動調整。制御の応答性を向上させたことで、鋭いコーナリング性能と砂漠地帯などの高速クルージング時の安定性を両立するという。
新型日産パトロールNISMOは、サスペンションの変更に合わせて電子制御パワーステアリングもチューニング。都市部などの低速時において取り回し性を重視して操舵力を軽くし、高速走行時には路面状況を的確に把握でき、安定感を感じる操舵力に調整する。
新型日産パトロールNISMOのホイールは、RAYS社と共同開発された22インチ鍛造アルミホイール。9スポークデザインのアルミホイールは、リム幅をワイド化しながら、軽量化と高い剛性を両立。ホイールの大きな開口部はデザイン性だけでなく、ブレーキの冷却効果を向上させる機能性も有する。グロスブラックと切削加工が施されたホイールは、NISMOのロゴと相まって上質感と機能性の両方を感じるデザインだ。
