沖縄 米兵の少女暴行事件から30年 軍関係者の事件は後を絶たず
沖縄県でアメリカ軍の兵士たちによって少女が暴行された事件が起きてから、9月4日で30年です。当時、沖縄では事件に対する大規模な抗議活動が行われましたが、いまもなおアメリカ軍の関係者による事件は後を絶たず、県は過重な基地負担の軽減を求め続けています。
1995年9月4日、沖縄県でアメリカ軍の兵士3人によって少女が暴行される事件が起き、警察は逮捕状を取って3人の引き渡しを求めましたが、日米地位協定を理由に拒否され、県内では事件に対する大規模な抗議活動が行われました。
こうした状況を受け、アメリカ軍は綱紀粛正と再発防止に向けて対策をとったものの、2016年には性的暴行をしようとした軍属によって20歳の女性が殺害されるなど、凶悪な事件は後を絶ちません。
警察によりますと、沖縄県内で起きたアメリカ軍の関係者による事件のうち、殺人や強盗、性暴力といった「凶悪犯」での検挙は、1995年から2024年までの間で123人に上っています。
沖縄には全国のアメリカ軍専用施設のおよそ70％が集中していて、県は、事件が繰り返される背景になっているとして、基地の整理縮小や日米地位協定の見直しなど過重な基地負担の軽減を求め続けています。
