トヨタの新しい街「Woven City」オープン 「人が生活するテストコース」
トヨタによる新しい街「Toyota Woven City(Woven City)」が、9月25日に“オフィシャルローンチ”され、まちびらきを迎えた。Woven Cityでは、企業・個人が様々なプロダクトやサービスの実証を行なうともに、住民が居住開始し、モビリティカンパニーへの変革に向けた「人が生活するテストコース」となる。

Woven Cityは、2020年の1月の「CES」で構想を発表し、ウーブン・バイ・トヨタ(WbyT)とトヨタ自動車が開発を進めてきた。パートナーと連携して、様々なモビリティやプロダクトやサービスに関する開発・実証を進め、その参加者は企業・個人を問わず「Inventors(インベンター/発明家)」と呼ばれる。トヨタのものづくりの知見や、WbyTのソフトウェア技術、各Inventorが持つ様々な強みや専門性を掛け合わせることで、新たな価値を作り出す「カケザン」による発明を目指している。
25日には、シンガーソングライターのナオト・インティライミ氏がInventorsとして加入。Woven Cityにて音に関する実証を行なう予定で、Woven City Anthemとサウンドシンボルをプロデュースする。
25日時点で計20のInventorsの参画が決まっており、ダイキン工業は、「花粉レス空間」や「パーソナライズされた機能的空間」などについて実証。ダイドードリンコは「自動販売機を通じた新たな価値創造」、日清食品は「新たな食文化創造に向けた食環境の構築」などを行なう。UCCジャパンは「コーヒーが人々の創造性や生産性に与える影響」実証する。
そのほか、増進会ホールディングスは「データ活用による先進的な教育スタイル」など、インターステラテクノロジズは「ロケットの製造体制強化」、共立製薬は「ペットと人のより良い共生社会のあり方」などを探る。
Woven Cityの三本の道は、地上の道は「歩行者専用の道」、「歩行者とパーソナルモビリティが共存する道」、「モビリティ専用の道」の3種類に分類。また、地下の道は気候や気温等に左右されず実証がしやすい環境として実証に活用する。信号もモビリティと連動して、信号の切り替えタイミングを制御するシステムを導入するなど、街全体がモビリティのテストのために作られている。豊田自動織機など、トヨタグループ各社もInventorsとして参画予定。
