和歌山電鉄 貴志駅で初代猫駅長「たま」をしのぶ催し
猫の駅長として人気を集め10年前に死んだ「たま」をしのぶ催しが、和歌山県紀の川市にある和歌山電鉄の貴志駅で行われ、「たま」の特大の写真パネルがお披露目されました。
三毛猫の「たま」は、紀の川市にある和歌山電鉄の貴志駅で駅長として人気を集め、廃線の危機に直面していた貴志川線の存続に大きな役割を果たしました。
10年前に死んだあとも、毎年、誕生日には「たま」をしのぶ催しが行われていて、26回目の誕生日にあたる4月29日も、貴志駅の前には、あとを継いだニタマ駅長やよんたま駅長、ごたま、ふく駅長などが集まりました。
和歌山電鉄の小嶋光信社長が「大きな業績を残した、たまの誕生日をみんなで祝いましょう」とあいさつしたあと、用意されたケーキを前に、訪れた100人ほどのファンたちがバースデーソングを歌いました。
ことしは、「たま」の特大の写真パネル、3種類もお披露目され、大型連休に合わせて、5月1日から貴志川線の和歌山駅、伊太祈曽駅、貴志駅の3駅に設置されるということです。
愛知県から来た50代の女性は「駅長姿に癒やされていました。いまも、まだ生きているような気がしているので、これからも後輩たちと頑張ってほしいです」と話していました。
