宿泊者の不用スーツケース無料回収と優待販売 新宿京王百貨店
京王百貨店 新宿店は、11日から「不用スーツケース無料回収＆買い替え特別ご優待」を開始する。対象は京王プラザホテル(新宿)に宿泊する人で、百貨店内の指定売場でスーツケースを優待価格で購入できるほか、不要になったスーツケースは宿泊先ホテルで無料回収する。

観光客が、現地でスーツケースを新調したり、不調により買い換えしたりする際にホテルや空港などに放置する事案が急増。施設側は、所有者に確認せずに無断で廃棄できないため、廃棄費用のコストが発生するなどの課題が生じている。
こうした背景を踏まえ、同社は課題対策としてスーツケースの無料回収と買い替え優待を実施する。対象は宿泊者であり、日本在住者も含まれる。優待となるスーツケースは、新宿店4階トラベルバッグ売場「エース」の常備品各種。
回収されたスーツケースは、エースが展開する「エース リサイクルプロジェクト」を通じて、国内のNPO法人や公的機関への寄付、または資源として再利用される。
25日からは、新宿ワシントンホテルおよびホテルグレイスリー新宿にも対象ホテルを拡大。今後も新宿西口エリアを中心に、対象施設を順次拡大していく予定。
