全国有数のぼたんの産地 松江 大根島の日本庭園に5万輪の花
大型連休にあわせ、全国有数のぼたんの産地、松江市の大根島の日本庭園では、5万輪の花が池に浮かべられたり地面に敷き詰められたりして、訪れた人の目を楽しませています。
島根県と鳥取県にまたがる湖、中海に浮かぶ松江市八束町の大根島は全国有数のぼたんの産地で、年間70万本ほどが栽培され、海外にも出荷されています。
島にある日本庭園の「由志園」では毎年、大型連休にあわせて、地元の生産者が栽培の過程で摘み取った花を園内の池に浮かべたり地面に敷き詰めたりして飾っています。
ぼたんの花は直径20センチほどで、ことしは新たにダリアの花も加わり、あわせて5万輪が飾られています。
赤や白、ピンクなどのじゅうたんのように彩られた園内では、観光客が写真を撮ったり香りを楽しんだりしていました。
愛知県から訪れた50代の女性は「とてもきれいです。ほんのりとした香りにも癒やされます」と話していました。
「由志園」のデザイナー、石川裕子さんは「ことしは寒さで開花が遅れましたが、大型連休にあわせて見ることができます。香りも楽しんでほしいです」と話していました。
この催しは5月6日まで行われています。
