鹿児島 奄美大島の森に光るキノコ 幻想的な雰囲気で姿現す
鹿児島県の奄美大島の森の中に黄緑色に光るキノコ「シイノトモシビダケ」が姿を現し、幻想的な雰囲気を漂わせています。
奄美大島の龍郷町にある「奄美自然観察の森」で、ともし火のように光っているのは「シイノトモシビダケ」と呼ばれるキノコです。
「シイノトモシビダケ」は傘の大きさが1、2センチと小さく、枯れたシイの木に自生し昼間は茶色に見えますが、日没後は暗闇の中で黄緑色や白色に光り、幻想的な雰囲気を漂わせています。
取材した16日は、木の幹に沿うように30個ほどがまとまって生えていました。
自然写真家の常田守さんによりますと、光る仕組みはホタルなどと同じ「ルシフェリン」という物質の働きによるものですが、なぜ光るのか詳しい理由は分かっておらず、一説には光ることで虫やナメクジなどをおびき寄せ、フンを媒介して胞子を広げると考えられているということです。
「シイノトモシビダケ」は、奄美大島では6月まで観察することができますが、一度、姿を現してもナメクジに食べられるなどして数日で見られなくなるということです。
