スターリンク利用「フェリーWi-Fi」通年提供 10隻に導入へ
KDDIとワイヤ・アンド・ワイヤレスは、衛星ブロードバンド「Starlink」(スターリンク)を活用した船上Wi-Fiサービス「フェリーWi-Fi」の本格提供を開始した。2025年度中に10隻へ導入する予定。

両社は2025年1月に「フェリーWi-Fi」を開始。電波の届きにくい船上でも、衛星を利用した最大220Mbpsの高速通信を提供していた。これまでは一部船舶にて期間限定で提供されていたが、ユーザーや船舶会社の好評を受け通年提供を決定、対象船舶も拡大する。
7月1日から提供が開始されたのは、神奈川県 横須賀～福岡県 新門司の航路では東京九州フェリーの「はまゆう」「それいゆ」。北海道 小樽～新潟県 新潟の航路では新日本海フェリーの「らべんだあ」「あざれあ」。
北海道 苫小牧東～福井県 敦賀の航路では、新日本海フェリーの「すずらん」に7月中旬から、「すいせん」に7月下旬から導入される予定。
このほか北海道～関東・関西エリアの航路にて、夏以降順次、4隻に導入される予定。
「フェリーWi-Fi」の利用料は、au回線のユーザーは無料。au Starlink Direct専用プランのユーザーも無料。そのほかのユーザーは24時間で1,500円。
