米陸軍創設250年の軍事パレード トランプ大統領が意義を強調
アメリカのトランプ大統領は自身の誕生日でもある来月14日に首都ワシントンでアメリカ陸軍の創設250年に合わせた軍事パレードが計画されていることについて意義を強調しました。一方、政府支出の削減を進める中でパレードに費用をかけることには批判も出ています。
アメリカ陸軍は創設250年となる来月14日に首都ワシントンでパレードを行う計画が進行中だと発表しました。
およそ150台の車両や航空機50機、それに兵士6600人が参加し「陸軍が国家に奉仕してきた250年の歴史を象徴するイベントとなる」としています。
その日はトランプ大統領の79歳の誕生日でもあります。
これに関連してトランプ大統領は4日放送されたNBCテレビのインタビューの中で「私たちは世界で最も優れたミサイルや潜水艦、戦車、それに武器を持っている。それを祝うのだ」と述べ、意義を強調しました。
また、パレードにかかる費用について「実施する価値に比べれば取るに足りない」と述べました。
具体的な費用は明らかになっていませんが、トランプ政権が政府支出の削減のために職員の解雇や事業の見直しなどを進める一方で、軍事パレードに費用をかけることには批判も出ています。
首都ワシントンでの軍事パレードは湾岸戦争終結を記念した1991年が最後で、トランプ政権1期目の2018年にも計画されましたが、費用などが課題となり、実現しませんでした。
