日本製鉄 USスチール買収禁止命令の無効求めた訴訟を取り下げ

日本製鉄はアメリカの鉄鋼大手、USスチールの買収完了に伴い、買収計画に禁止命令を出したバイデン前大統領と計画を審査したアメリカ政府の委員会に対して命令の無効などを求めていた訴訟を取り下げたと発表しました。

日本製鉄によるUSスチールの買収をめぐっては、ことし1月、バイデン前大統領が国家安全保障上の懸念を理由に禁止命令を出し、両社は違法な政治介入だとして、バイデン前大統領と買収計画を審査したCFIUS＝対米外国投資委員会に対して、命令の無効と審査のやり直しを求める訴えを起こしていました。

これについて日本製鉄は、7月1日、トランプ政権のもとでUSスチールの買収が完了したことに伴い、訴訟を取り下げたと発表しました。

一方、USスチールの買収で競合した現地の鉄鋼大手「クリーブランド・クリフス」や買収に反対を続けていたUSW＝全米鉄鋼労働組合のマッコール会長などに対し、買収を阻止してUSスチールの競争力を低下させようとしたとして、損害賠償などを求めている裁判については係争中だとしています。

この裁判について、日本製鉄は「係争中なのでコメントを控える」としています。
