強いこだわりと関西ならではのユーモアを巧みに掛け合わせた大阪ファッションの震源地を紹介する短期連載。第6回は、ヴィンテージショップ「アサギ（ASAGI）」。アメリカ村屈指の人気店は、いまなお進化を遂げている。

ヴィンテージショップ「アサギ」は、アメ村の繁華街に立地しながらも店前はどこか静かな空気が流れる。来年で創業20年を迎える老舗だ。店内は1階がメンズとレディースのミックス、2階がレディース、3階がメンズというラインナップ。とはいえ、メンズのサイズ感を好む女性やレディースのデザインに魅せられる男性も訪れるので、明確なボーダーはない。誰もが自由に好きなものができる、そんな古着の醍醐味が「アサギ」には詰まっているのだ。
取り扱うアイテムはアメリカとヨーロッパの古着がメイン。アンティークから90年代頃までの“グッドレギュラー”に加え、セレクトされたデザイナーズブランドも並ぶ。アイテムの多様さは、長年の経験と確かな目利きによるものだ。ちなみに同店の青野直美さんは、前回紹介した大阪古着の老舗「レイン」で研鑽を積んだだけあり、審美眼はピカイチ。
「年間の買い付けはアメリカとヨーロッパ、ともに年4回程度。一度の買い付けでの滞在期間は1カ月ほどです。買い付けエリアやディーラーさんは、現地に行くたびに新規を開拓するようにしています。新たな血を入れいくといいますか、その方が仕入れるアイテムもつねに新鮮なので」
同店が得意とするのは、ヨーロッパのアンティークとヴィンテージ。創業当時、誰も注目していなかったヨーロッパ物を積極的に扱い始めたのが同店の大きな特色となっている。アメリカヴィンテージ市場が世界的に高騰している影響から、近年「アサギ」を訪れる顧客の多くは、比較的まだ安価に購入できるヨーロピアン・ヴィンテージを求めて足を運んでいるという。
「ヨーロッパものの中でも特に人気が高いのが、1910～30年代の農業系アイテムやブラックモールスキン、ハンティングジャケットです。素材感が秀逸で、歴史をまとった布の風合いが魅力です」
ヨーロッパヴィンテージの奥深さは、メンズだけでなくレディースアイテムにも表れている。例えば、教会で使われていたと思われるアンティークのチャーチスモックやコットンのワークドレスなど、一つひとつに物語がある服が並ぶ。
「とにかくお客様が見たことのないような服を買い付けるようにしています。喜ぶ顔が見たくて買い付けています。デザインが複雑すぎる『これどないして着んねん（笑）！』みたいな服を買ってくることもあるんですけど、そういう不思議な服を喜んで買ってもらった時は、本当に嬉しくてあの瞬間こそバイヤー冥利に尽きます」
最近の大阪の古着シーンについて感じることについて聞くと。
「ずっとアメリカ古着ひと筋だった方が、ヨーロッパものとミックスで着たりして、そういう部分は大阪らしいと思います。特に若い世代のお客さんでそういう方が多いです。あと最近はお客さんの偏りがなくなってきていルように感じます。アメリカもヨーロッパもデザイナーズも、とにかくジャンルや値段に関係なく、自分で気に入ったものを自由に着こなすっていう。個人的には90年代の頃のミックスカルチャーに似ていると感じています」
創業から20年、買い付け先や仕入れるアイテムなどを少しずつ変え、顧客の要望に応えながら進化を遂げてきた「アサギ」。目の肥えた大阪古着ラバーを唸らせる不思議な服探しは、これからも続くのだ。
