浅尾環境相が水俣病患者団体などと懇談 あすの慰霊式を前に
5月1日に水俣病の犠牲者の慰霊式が行われるのを前に、浅尾環境大臣が熊本県水俣市を訪れ患者団体などと懇談しました。1年前、当時の環境大臣との懇談の際に、団体側の発言の途中でマイクの音が切られた問題を受けて、ことしは2日間にわたって10の団体と懇談する予定で、30日の懇談では団体側から改めて患者の認定制度の見直しを求める声などがあがりました。
去年5月1日、水俣市で行われた水俣病の犠牲者を追悼する慰霊式のあとに設けられた、患者や被害者の団体と当時の環境大臣との懇談の際、団体側が発言している途中で環境省の職員が制限時間を過ぎたとしてマイクの音を切ったことが問題になりました。
これを受けて、ことしは十分な時間をとって患者や被害者の声を聞くよう求める声があがり、浅尾環境大臣は1日の慰霊式に先立って30日午後から水俣市を訪れ、患者が暮らす施設などを視察しました。
午後4時すぎからは水俣病の患者団体など6団体が参加して懇談が行われ、浅尾大臣は冒頭で「昨年の懇談の場でマイクの音を切るという不適切な運営があったことを改めておわびします」と謝罪しました。
続いて、半世紀にわたって水俣病の患者としての認定を求めている水俣市出身の大戸迫智さんが、小学生の頃からうまく歩くことができず、手足のしびれや頭痛などの様々な症状があることや、症状がどんどんひどくなり、今では歩くこともできないことを訴え、「水俣病だと認めてほしい」と強く求めました。
そして、団体側が患者の認定制度の見直しを求めたのに対し、浅尾大臣は「これまでの最高裁判決でも今の認定基準は否定されていないと理解している。因果関係などを総合的に検討する」と従来からの国の方針を答えました。
さらに団体側からは、去年、なぜマイクを切る問題が起こったのか環境省がきちんと検証すべきだという声もあがっていました。
浅尾大臣は30日と1日で、10の団体と懇談する予定です。
