北海道八雲町 5人死亡のバス衝突事故から2年 関係者が安全誓う
北海道八雲町でトラックが高速バスと衝突し、バスの乗客と双方の運転手の5人が死亡、12人がけがをした事故から18日で2年になります。事故現場の近くでは、多くの人が黙とうをささげて犠牲者を悼みました。
おととしの6月18日、八雲町の国道で養豚会社のトラックが都市間高速バスと衝突し、バスの乗客3人と双方の運転手の合わせて5人が死亡したほか、乗客12人が重軽傷を負いました。
事故から2年となる18日、現場の近くでは、犠牲者を悼む式典が開かれ、警察や町の関係者のほか、地元の小中学生などおよそ150人が参列しました。
参列者全員で犠牲者に黙とうをささげたあと、花を手向けて静かに手を合わせていました。
式では、八雲警察署の横田剛士署長が「事故の記録を改めて見返し、ご遺族の方の深い悲しみに触れると涙が止まりませんでした。二度と悲劇を繰り返さない覚悟で交通安全に取り組んでいきたい」と述べました。
現場付近では走行中のドライバーに黄色い旗を振って安全運転を呼びかける活動も行われ、18日は犠牲者を悼み、改めて安全を誓う一日となります。
一方、事故をめぐっては、トラックの運転手が事故前日に体調不良を訴えていたのに勤務を交代させなかったなどとして、勤務先の安全運転管理者ら2人が去年、業務上過失致死傷の疑いで書類送検されていて、今後、検察庁が起訴するかどうかを判断することになります。
トラック運行会社社長 “二度と起こさないよう管理を徹底”
事故を起こしたトラックを運行していた青森県の養豚会社「日本クリーンファーム」の友野敦社長は18日朝早く、八雲町の現場を訪れて花を手向け、静かに手を合わせました。
取材に応じた友野社長は、事故について改めて陳謝するとともに「事故の重大さを受け止め、亡くなられた方々のご冥福をお祈りするとともに、けがをされた方の1日も早い回復を願っております。二度とこのような事故を起こさないよう、今後も従業員の健康管理などを徹底してまいります」と話していました。
