沖縄 米軍と警察が初の合同参加で地域パトロール 米兵事件受け
アメリカ軍の兵士による性暴力事件が相次いだことを受けて、沖縄市の繁華街で行われた地域安全パトロールに、アメリカ軍と警察が初めて合同で参加しました。
沖縄市が行った地域安全パトロールは、18日午後10時から19日午前2時すぎにかけて、嘉手納基地の前にある繁華街、通称「ゲート通り」の周辺で行われました。
パトロールには、アメリカ軍と警察も参加し、午前1時を過ぎると参加している兵士たちが店に入り、軍の関係者に帰宅するよう呼びかける姿も見られました。
アメリカ軍は相次ぐ性暴力事件を受けて、去年10月から兵士の外出や飲酒を規制する「リバティー制度」で午前1時から午前5時まで酒を提供する場所への立ち入りを禁じています。
アメリカ軍と警察が合同で地域のパトロールに参加するのは、沖縄県内では初めてだということです。
パトロール終了後、沖縄市の山内副市長は「皆さんに治安維持を促したのは意義のある取り組みだ。今後もどれだけ継続できるかが鍵だ」と話していました。
