JR東日本、横浜線で自動列車運転装置(ATO)
JR東日本は、自動列車運転装置(ATO)を、横浜線 E233系の一部区間で11月22日初電から順次使用を開始する。横浜支社管内では初となる。
区間は京浜東北・根岸線 東神奈川～大船間で、横浜線からの直通運転列車のみ。車両は横浜線 E233系(8両編成)。
ATOによる運転は、発車時は地上設備から「出発可能」の信号が送られ、これを受けて乗務員の出発ボタン操作により動き出す。走行時はATOが自動で勾配や曲線、制限速度を考慮して最適な加減速を行なう。停車時は駅の停止位置に向けて自動で減速、正確な停止位置を把握し、前後数10cm以内の精度で停車する。ドアの開閉は乗務員の操作で行なう。
本使用開始に向けて、9月下旬から一部の営業列車でATOを使用した走行訓練を開始する。
