WHO 日本を風疹が流行していない地域を示す「排除」状態に認定
WHO＝世界保健機関は、日本の風疹について、国内に定着したウイルスによる感染が確認されていないことから、日本を風疹が流行していない地域であることを示す「排除」状態に認定したと発表しました。
風疹はウイルス性の感染症で、熱や発疹、リンパ節の腫れなどの症状が出るほか、妊娠中の女性が感染すると、生まれてくる赤ちゃんの目や耳、心臓などに障害が出るおそれがあります。
国内では2013年に風疹の流行が拡大し、1万4000人以上の感染が確認されたほか、2018年と2019年にも年間2000人以上が感染しました。
このため、国は2019年から、流行の中心となっていた、子どものころに公的な予防接種を受けていなかった男性を対象にワクチン接種を行うなど対策を進め、2021年以降は感染者は年間10人前後に減少していました。
厚生労働省によりますと、国内に定着したウイルスによる感染が3年間確認されていないことから、WHOが26日、日本を風疹が流行していない地域であることを示す「排除」状態に認定したということです。
厚生労働省は「風疹の排除状態を維持するため、引き続き、感染状況の適切な監視やワクチン接種の推進に努める」としています。
