生産終了が発表されたレクサスの2ドアクーペ「RC350」に設定された特別仕様車「“Final Edition”」に、『GQ JAPAN』ライフスタイル・エディターのイナガキが乗った！

レクサスRC350“Final Edition”のインテリアは、専用配色＆装備で特別感を高める。
具体的にはブラック＆フレアレッドのカラーを採用。“Final Edition”カーボンオーナメントパネル（グローブボックス／パワーウインドゥスイッチベース）や“Final Edition”ネームプレート（カーボン［フロントコンソール］）に加え、ウルトラスエード®を使ったスポーツシート（運転席ポジションメモリー／運転席・助手席ヒーター＆ベンチレーション機能付）／ステアリング（パドルシフト付）＆シフトノブ／ドアトリム／クォータートリム／センターコンソール上部を装備。
“Final Edition”スエード調ファブリック（メーターフード）や“Final Edition”8インチTFT液晶式メーター（TFTカラーマルチインフォメーションディスプレイ［専用オープニング］）、プロジェクションカーテシイルミ（F SPORT）も特別に備える。
レクサスRC350“Final Edition”のドアを開けると、F SPORTのロゴが路面に映し出されるプロジェクションカーテシイルミが出迎える。
シートの成型に表皮一体発泡工法を採用したレクサスRC350“Final Edition”のスポーツシートは、レッドとブラックの2トーンで、ステッチの一部がレッドとなる凝ったつくりだ。シートと表皮を一度に成型し実現した理想的な凹断面により、シャープなデザイン、すぐれたフィット感と高いホールド性を実現したという。座った瞬間、「あぁ良いシートだなぁ」というのがわかる心地よさがたらまらない。
リヤシートへの乗降はワンタッチウォークインシート/パワーイージーアクセスシステム (運転席オートスライドアウェイ&リターンメモリー機能)がサポート。シートバックを前倒しすると、シートのスライド・リフトの各機能を制御し、自動で“乗り込みやすい位置”まで移動。シートバックを起こすと自動復帰する。
リヤシートを使う機会はあまりないかもしれないが、あるとないとでは大違い。“乗り込みやすい位置”は、よく考えられており、そこまでの動きもスムーズ。後席乗員への“おもてなし”もレクサスは欠かさない。
レクサスRC350“Final Edition”のリヤシートはふたり掛けで、大人でも問題なく座れる広さだ。ヘッドクリアランスは身長にもよるが、可もなく不可もなく。ただし、ミドルクラスの2ドアクーペとしては広い方だと思う。さらに、リヤシート専用のエアコン吹き出し口も完備。ふたりがきちんと座る空間として作り上げられている。
レクサスRC350“Final Edition”のエンジンをオンにすると、液晶メーターに“Final Edition”用のオープニングテキストとして「Everlasting」が表示される。ちょっとした差別化でも、所有するユーザーの満足感は高まるはず。こういった“小技”は大歓迎だ。
8インチTFT液晶式メーターは、レクサスならではの装備として可動式メーターリングを採用。通常時はデジタルスピードメーターを内蔵したタコメーターがセンターに配置、ステアリングスイッチでカラーマルチインフォメーションディスプレイの表示を選ぶとメーターリングがスライドする。メーターリングが、“スーッ”とスライドする様子は、何度見ても楽しい。デジタルとアナログの素晴らしい融合だ。新世代のレクサスは、可動式メーターリングが廃止されるようだから、あえてRCを選ぶのもアリ。
