アウディの新型「Q6 e-tron」は、ミドルクラスサイズのピュアEV（電気自動車）だ。
e-tronは、アウディのピュアEVモデルに与えられるサブネームだ。SUVタイプのe-tronは2019年にデビュー。フラッグシップモデルとして「e-tron」が販売開始された。ちなみに、このe-tronは、2022年のマイナーチェンジで「Q8 e-tron」に名称変更。わずか3年でモデル名が変更になるとは、今が激動の時代だということを感じさせる。
もっとも、アウディのピュアEV戦略の躍進を考えれば致し方ない。現在e-tronのSUVラインナップは、Q8 e-tronを皮切りに、コンパクトサイズのQ4 e-tron、そして今回のQ6 e-tronの3種類も用意する。トヨタや日産、ホンダといった日本メーカーにはない豊富なラインナップだ。
新型アウディQ6 e-tronのボディサイズは全長4770mm、全幅1940mm、全高1695mm。全幅2.0m超の輸入車が増えた中、全幅を1.9m台に抑えているのは評価したい。
試乗した新型アウディQ6 e-tron quattro advancedのエクステリアは、美しい。面の処理が巧みで、ひと目で精緻な印象を受ける。プレミアムブランドにふさわしいデザインだ。このデザインだけで、新型アウディQ6 e-tronを選んでも、決して後悔はしないはず。
新型アウディQ6 e-tron quattro advancedのフロントまわりは立体な造形のシングルフレームとサイドエアインテークが目をひく。デビュー当初こそシングルフレームの大きさに、人々は驚いたものの、時を経て、アウディにとってなくてはならないアイデンティティとなった。しかも、ライバルがもっとインパクトのあるフロントグリル採用車を投入する中にあって、控えめ。BMWの新型「7シリーズ」の巨大なキドニーグリル（フロントグリル）と比べたら、穏やかな表情が微笑ましい。
