スポーツクライミング世界選手権 吉田が銀 本間が銅メダル獲得
韓国で行われているスポーツクライミングの世界選手権、男子リードで21歳の吉田智音選手が銀メダルを獲得し、本間大晴選手が銅メダルを手にしました。日本勢は2人が表彰台に立つ活躍です。
9月22日から韓国で開催されているスポーツクライミングの世界選手権は、26日、1回のトライで壁を登った高さを競うリードの男女の決勝が行われました。
このうち8人で競う男子の決勝には日本勢3人が勝ち進み、ことし5月のワールドカップで初優勝を果たした吉田選手は、指の力の強さを生かしたテンポのいい登りで順調に高度を上げていきました。
終盤の丸みがあるホールドや距離の離れたホールドが設置された難しいエリアも粘り強く突破し、完登は果たせなかったものの、世界選手権で初めてのメダルとなる銀メダルを獲得しました。
また、3年前のワールドカップのこの種目の年間ランキングで2位に入った経験がある25歳の本間選手が、持ち味のリーチの長さを生かし軽快な登りを見せて初めての出場で銅メダルを獲得し、日本勢は2人が表彰台に立つ活躍を見せました。
このほか21歳の鈴木音生選手が5位、パリオリンピック銀メダリストの安楽宙斗選手は準決勝で10位にとどまり決勝に進めず、28日のボルダーでの巻き返しを目指します。
金メダルは韓国のイ・ドヒュン選手でした。
一方、女子リードは、前回の世界選手権のこの種目で金メダルを獲得した森秋彩選手が欠場する中で、日本勢の決勝進出はありませんでした。
吉田智音「優勝争いに食い込めるとは」
銀メダルを獲得した吉田智音選手は「表彰台を目標にしていたが、ここまで優勝争いに食い込めるとは考えていなかった。2位でうれしい気持ちと、1位を逃した気持ちがあり複雑な思いだ」と心境を話しました。
今後に向けては「今シーズンは、ワールドカップで優勝もできて飛躍できたが、あと一歩で表彰台を逃す試合も多かった。その一歩を埋めていく練習をしていきたい。オリンピック出場を見据えて、来年はワールドカップの年間優勝を取りたい」と意気込みを語っていました。
本間大晴「めちゃくちゃうれしい」
銅メダルを獲得した本間大晴選手は「めちゃくちゃうれしい。自分の登りをすることだけにフォーカスして、事前に立てた予想どおりの動きができた。来シーズンはまたタイトルを取れるように臨んでいきたい」と話していました。
