9月23日、日産の北米法人は、新しい「セントラ」を発表した。
日産セントラは、ホンダ「シビック」やトヨタ「カローラ」のライバルとなる4ドアセダンで、日本未導入モデルだ。ちなみにセントラは、サニーの北米版として登場した。
新しいセントラは空力性能を高めるべくエクステリアデザインを変更。フロントまわりは、新設計のグリルや灯火類が目をひく。ヘッドライトからリヤスポイラーまで伸び出るキャラクターラインも新しい。
インテリアでは12.3インチのセンタータッチスクリーンを標準装備とし、上位グレードには12.3インチのデジタルメータークラスターを設置した。さらにSV、SR、SLにはワイヤレスのApple CarPlayとAndroid Autoも追加される。
パワートレインは、従来モデルとおなじ2.0リッター直列4気筒ガソリンエンジンで、149psの最高出力を誇る。
組み合わされるトランスミッションはCVTで、再チューニングを実施。上級モデルにはスポーツドライブモードを新設した。走行性能を高めるべくボディ剛性を6%高めたという。静粛性向上のため、各パーツも見直された。
新しい日産セントラの価格などは今後明かされる。日本導入は不明だ。
