秋田 横手 桜の名所 真人公園で「たらいこぎ競争」
桜の名所として知られる秋田県横手市の公園の沼で大きなたらいに乗って沼を渡る速さを競う「たらいこぎ競争」が行われました。
「たらいこぎ競争」は、100年以上前、若者が酒造りに使われるたらいに乗って沼で遊んだのが始まりとされ、毎年、この時期に横手市にある桜の名所、真人公園で行われています。
ことしは県内外から、およそ50人が出場し、桜が舞い散る中、直径90センチのたらいに乗って懸命に手で水をかき、マラソンにちなんだ42.195メートル先のゴールを目指しました。
中には、なかなか進めず、その場で回ってしまったり、バランスを崩して転覆したりする人もいて、会場は、大きな声援と笑いに包まれていました。
レースに出場した秋田県三種町の女性は「バランスをとるのが難しかったですが、冷たい水に落ちたくないと思って頑張りました。水面ばかり見て桜の景色を楽しむ余裕はなかったので、また、挑戦してみたいです」と話していました。
大会を主催した地元の観光協会は、ことしの夏には自動車の「24時間耐久レース」にちなんで、24分間に沼を何周できるかを競うレースを行う予定だということです。
