グーグル、AIエディター「Windsurf」のCEOを引き抜き
AIエディター「Windsurf」を展開するWindsurfは11日(米国時間)、Googleとの協力関係を強化し、CEOのVarun Mohan氏や共同創業者のDouglas Chen氏などのR&Dチームの主要メンバーの一部がGoogleに加入すると発表した。
Windsurfについては、6月からOpenAIによる買収交渉が報道されていたが、OpenAIではなく、GoogleがWindsurfの主要メンバーを獲得したこととなる。Google DeepMindのデミス・ハサビスCEOは、「Windsurfのメンバーを迎えることができ、大変嬉しく思う。彼らと共に、コーディングエージェントやツールの活用など、Geminiの取り組みを加速させていく」とXに投稿している。
GoogleがCEOを含むWindsurfの主要開発メンバーを引き抜いた形で、Wall Street JournalはCEOの引き抜きとラインセンス取得でGoogleが24億ドルを支払うと報じている。
Windsurfは今後、エンタープライズ向けWindsurfの開発に軸足を移し、多くのメンバーが継続して開発にあたるとしている。Windsurfのビジネス責任者であるJeff Wang氏が暫定CEOに就任。エンタープライズ向けの展開を強化していく。
