6月25日、イギリスのカラムデザインは、「ウッド＆ピケット ミニ バイ カラム」を発表した。
ウッド＆ピケット ミニ バイ カラムは、オリジナル ミニをベースとしたホットハッチだ。
カラムデザインは、ジャガーの元デザイン責任者であるイアン カラムが興した会社だ。今回のウッド＆ピケット ミニ バイ カラムは、ミニのコーチビルダーとして有名な「ウッド＆ピケット」とのコラボレーションで誕生した。
ベースとなるオリジナル ミニは、1997年から2001年まで生産された最終バージョンだ。搭載するエンジンは1275ccから1310ccに排気量を拡大。燃料噴射システムやシリンダーヘッドなどに手を加えたことで、最高出力は110psにアップ。
高性能化に伴いギヤボックスやサスペンションも改良された。
エクステリアは、スポーティな前後バンパーやLED灯火類が目をひく。足まわりは、オリジナルのアルミホイールから、イアン カラムがデザインした13インチの4本スポークタイプに換装された。
インテリアは、ウッドを使ったダッシュボードパネルを採用。ヒーターおよびフォグランプのスイッチなどは金属製だ。スマートフォンのミラーリング機能が備わる小型タッチスクリーンも装備し。快適性を高める。
ウッド＆ピケット ミニ バイ カラムは、1台ずつ手作業で組み立てられる。価格は1500万円前後から。仕様によって変動する。
