北海道 網走湖 今シーズンのシジミ漁始まる
北海道最大のシジミの産地、網走市の網走湖で今シーズンのシジミ漁が始まっています。
網走湖のシジミは北海道産のおよそ8割を占めていて、農産物や食品などの特産品を国が地域ブランドとして保護する「地理的表示保護制度」にも登録されています。
今シーズンの漁は、例年より早い先月20日から湖と近くの網走川で始まり、37隻の漁船が操業しています。
湖底を掘り起こして捕ったシジミは、資源を守るため大きさが14ミリ未満の貝を船上で選別して湖に戻していました。
ことしの網走湖のシジミ漁は11月下旬まで行われ、今シーズンの漁獲量は去年よりおよそ150トン多い500トンを見込んでいるということです。
西網走漁協シジミ部会の檜森信夫 部会長は「網走湖のシジミは粒が大きくて味が濃いのが特徴で、みそ汁がいちばんおいしいです。ぜひ一度食べてほしいです」と話していました。
