グーグル、「検索の利用は減っていない」と声明
Googleは7日(米国時間)、「検索の利用が減っている」との報道に対し、検索は全体的にクエリが増加しており、Appleのデバイスやプラットフォームにおいても同様との声明を発表した。

この話題は、検索における独占禁止法違反についてのGoogleと米司法省の裁判における、Appleのサービス担当役員エディー・キュー氏の証言がきっかけ。証言では、Safari上の検索が4月に初めて減少したこと、PerplextyやOpenAIなどのAI検索がいずれ従来の検索に変わっていくとの見解を示したという(Bloombergの報道)。
Googleではこの裁判に関する報道について、「検索における全体的なクエリの増加が続いている」と反論しており、Appleのデバイスやプラットフォームも同様としている。加えて、音声やGoogle レンズなどの新しい方法が増えており、(5月20日に開幕する)Google I/Oでさらなる発表も予定しているという。
また、裁判におけるGoogle側の反論についてもXアカウント( @NewsFromGoogle )で投稿しており、Firefoxブラウザを展開するMozillaが、司法省の“救済策”によりGoogleからの対価が得られなくなると「倒産する可能性がある」との懸念を示したこと、アップルによるSafariへのGoogle 検索搭載は「顧客にとって有益」と表明したことなどを紹介している。
