iOS 26、9月16日公開 UI一新やライブ翻訳
アップルは、最新の「iOS 26」を9月16日(日本時間)に無料のソフトウェアアップデートとして提供する。

対象機種は、9月19日に発売されるiPhone 17シリーズとiPhone Airのほか、iPhone 11以降の多くの製品でiPhone SE(第2世代以降)もアップデート対象となる。直前のiOS 18がサポートしていたiPhone XS、XS Max、XRが外れる形となる。
iOS 26では、新しい「Liquid Glass」デザインを採用。複数のアプリやデバイスで、これまで以上に一貫した体験が可能となり、ガラスの光学的特性と、流れるような質感が特徴。ロック画面、ホーム画面、コントロールセンター、アプリなどのデザインが統一される。
Apple Intelligenceでは、新たに「ライブ翻訳」に対応。メッセージアプリのテキストを自動翻訳するほか、ライブ翻訳されたキャプションをFaceTimeで表示。電話アプリでは、話している内容の翻訳が音声で読み上げられる。
また、AirPods Pro 3との組み合わせでは異なる言語の話者との会話をiPhoneが翻訳し、AirPods Pro 3で聞けるようになり、自分が話した言葉はiPhone上にテキストとして翻訳して表示できる。AirPods Pro 3のライブ翻訳は英語、フランス語、ドイツ語、ポルトガル語、スペイン語に対応し、年内に日本語をサポート予定。
ビジュアルインテリジェンスやImage PlaygroundなどのApple Intelligenceの各機能も搭載。着信スクリーニングによる不要電話の確認や代わりに電話アプリが応答する保留アシストなどの機能も搭載する。
マップやリマインダーの強化や、写真アプリのレイアウト変更も行なわれる。またAirPodsのカメラリモートではビデオ録画に対応する。
