民主的なAIを推進する国家プロジェクト支援「OpenAI for Countries」
OpenAIは7日、米国への大型投資「Stargateプロジェクト」を他の国に拡大する新たな取り組み「OpenAI for Countries」を発表した。
Stargateプロジェクトは、オラクルとソフトバンクらとともに1月に発表した、アメリカのAIインフラ投資。現在、テキサス州アビリーンにスーパーコンピューティングキャンパスを建設中で、今後多くの拠点を追加予定。
同様に他の国からも、AIインフラの構築を支援してほしいという要望を受けていることから、OpenAIではこれらの国を支援し、民主的なAIの普及を推進する取り組みとして「OpenAI for Countries」を展開。権力集中を目的とした独裁的なAIの展開に対抗する「明確な代替案を提供するため、行動を起こす重要な局面」としている。
プロジェクトに関心を持つ政府に対し、OpenAIは新たなパートナーシップを提案。米国政府との調整のもと、正式なインフラ協力を通じて、データセンター構築支援や、AIのカスタマイズ、地域産業の育成などを通じて市民向けのChatGPTを提供。医療や教育の向上、公共サービスの効率化などに繋げながら各国のニーズに即したAIを、その言語や文化に最適化し、将来のグローバル基準を尊重した形で提供するという。
あわせて、国家レベルのスタートアップ基金を設立。現地の資本とOpenAIの資本を組み合わせて、新たな雇用、企業、収益、コミュニティを生み出しつつ、既存の公共部門と民間部門のニーズを支援する健全な国家AIエコシステムを育成するとしている。
OpenAIでは、Stargateプロジェクトの拡大に投資し、米国主導のAIリーダーシップと民主的なAIのためのグローバルで拡大するネットワーク効果を継続的に支援。OpenAI for Countriesでは、第一段階として、個々の国や地域との間で10のプロジェクトを推進する予定。
