新型ホンダ プレリュードは、シビック タイプRの“対極”を目指す1台だった!!! 復活したスペシャリティクーペに迫る
新型ホンダ「プレリュード」が正式発表された。これに先立ちクローズドコースで、プロトタイプを試乗した印象はいかに？ 『GQ JAPAN』ライフスタイルエディターのイナガキがリポートする。

新型ホンダ プレリュードの発売が、9月4日よりスタートした。その直前となる8月末、プロトタイプの試乗会が、クローズドコースで行われたのでリポートを綴る。
久しぶりに復活した新型プレリュードは、ハイブリッド専用モデルだ。ホンダ独自の2モーターハイブリッドシステム「e:HEV（イーエイチイーブイ）」は、「シビックe:HEV」がベースになる。シャシーのベースは「シビック タイプR」だ。
価格は¥6,179,800と、600万円オーバー。300万円台から購入可能なシビックe:HEVと比べるとやや高価に感じるかもしれないが、シビック タイプR譲りのシャシー採用や高い装備レベルを考えると妥当だと思う。
ちなみに、プレリュードが発表された9月4日よりシビックタイプRも「RACING BLACK Package」に限って受注再開となったが、価格はプレリュードと同額の¥6,179,800となった。つまりユーザーは、プレリュードとシビックタイプRを悩む楽しみが増えたのだ。
試乗会の冒頭、プレリュードの担当者から興味深い話があった。現在のホンダに対し、年齢層が下がるにつれて“好意度”が低下しているという。“好意度”とは、ずばりホンダを好きな人だ。多くの人にホンダをもっと好きになってもらうべく、プレリュードをリリース。訊くと、シビック タイプRの“対極”を目指すという。なるほど、新型プレリュードとシビック タイプRで、ホンダのファンを増やしていこうというわけだ。
実際、プレリュードは運転の楽しいクルマだったし、かつ価格に見合う上質な仕上がりだった。
エクステリアは、歴代プレリュードに負けないスタイリッシュなデザインだ。大型のテールゲートを採用するため、ややこれまでのプレリュードとは趣が異なるものの、これはこれで良い。以前の記事でも記したが、元々、プレリュードとして開発がスタートしたわけではないからこそ、このデザインが完成したのだ。
特にボディサイドが美しい。「フラッシュアウターハンドル」と呼ぶ格納式ドアハンドルの採用が、抑揚のあるなめらかなボディラインを強調する。それなりの大きさであるバッテリーを搭載するものの、かつてのプレリュード同様に低く、ワイドなスタイルを体現したのはお見事。ホンダのスポーツカーに対する熱き思いを感じた。
