「知床横断道路」約半年ぶりに開通 大型連休前に
大型連休を前に世界自然遺産の知床を横切る「知床横断道路」の冬の通行止め期間が終わり、およそ半年ぶりに開通しました。
北海道の知床半島にある羅臼町と斜里町を結ぶ国道334号線の「知床横断道路」は冬の間は通行止めとなっていましたが、除雪作業などが進んだため26日開通しました。
羅臼町側では10台ほどの車が開通を待っていて、午前9時半にゲートが開くと次々に車が斜里町方面に向かっていきました。
26日は天気にも恵まれ、知床横断道路の頂上にあたる知床峠の展望台からは雪が残る羅臼岳や北方領土の国後島がはっきりと見えていました。
展望台を訪れた男性は「一番に羅臼岳に登るため、午前7時半ごろから斜里町側で待っていました。天気もよく絶景で最高です」と話していました。
釧路開発建設部中標津道路事務所の菅野誠所長は「道路を通って、知床の雄大な自然を楽しんでほしい。これからも終日、開通できるよう道路の管理を行っていきたい」と話していました。
通行できる時間は、路面凍結のおそれがある夕方から朝を除く午前9時半から午後4時までの間で、通行規制は今後段階的に解除される予定です。
