天皇皇后両陛下 モンゴルで「ナーダム」の花形 競馬をご覧に
国際親善のためモンゴルを公式訪問している天皇皇后両陛下は、草原地帯で国民的なスポーツの祭典「ナーダム」の花形競技、競馬をご覧になりました。
11日、首都ウランバートルの国立中央スタジアムで、ナーダムの開会式に出席した両陛下は、現地時間の12日午前10時すぎに、40キロほど離れた草原にある競馬会場に到着し、フレルスフ大統領夫妻の出迎えを受けられました。
競馬は、騎馬遊牧民の国、モンゴルを象徴する花形競技で、両陛下は子どもたちが騎手を務める100頭以上の馬が大草原を22キロにわたって疾走する様子を、ゴールの手前およそ500メートルからご覧になりました。
先頭集団が前を駆け抜けていくと、天皇陛下は小型のデジタルカメラで撮影したり、皇后さまとともに双眼鏡をのぞいたりして行方を見守り、満面の笑みを見せて騎手たちに手を振られていました。
