中国で加速する航空機の国産化を象徴、商用飛行を開始した国産中型ジェット旅客機「C919」
ハイテク分野において中国が技術の国産化を加速させるなか、その動きを象徴する“製品”が新たに登場した。中国初の国産中型ジェット旅客機「C919」が、初の商用飛行を5月28日に実施したのである。

C919は座席数が158～192席の中型旅客機で、エアバス「A320」やボーイング「737」と競合する。国有企業の中国商用飛機（COMAC）による開発は07年に始まり、17年に初飛行に成功していた。初号機は22年12月に中国東方航空に引き渡され、今回の商用飛行でMU9191便として上海から北京まで運航した。
機体の生産は上海にあるCOMACの組立製造センターで進められたが、エンジンは米国とフランスの航空エンジンメーカーの合弁であるCFMインターナショナル製の「LEAP-X1C」を搭載している。今後はエンジンの国産化に加えて、欧米での型式証明の取得も課題になってくるだろう。
現時点でC919を発注した企業は中国の航空会社が中心で、当面は国内向けになる見通しだ。一方で、COMACは今年4月に国産リージョナルジェット機「ARJ21」でインドネシアでの商用飛行を実現させており、その評価によってはC919も新興国向けに輸出が進む可能性がある。
つまり、航空分野における中国の存在感の高まりを象徴するジェット機と言っていい。その機体や内装、初の商用飛行の様子などについて、写真で紹介していこう。
