トランプ大統領 “テネシー州メンフィスに新たに州兵派遣へ”

アメリカのトランプ大統領は治安対策だとして首都ワシントンに州兵を展開したのに続いて、新たに南部テネシー州のメンフィスに派遣すると明らかにしました。トランプ大統領は現地の共和党の知事らは歓迎しているなどと述べ、野党・民主党がトップを務める都市や州に受け入れを認めるよう、圧力をかけるねらいもあるとみられます。

トランプ大統領は12日、FOXニュースの番組に出演して去年、全米の主要都市で暴力犯罪の発生率が最も高かったとされる、南部テネシー州のメンフィスに治安対策として新たに州兵を派遣する考えを明らかにしました。

そのうえで現地の共和党の知事やメンフィスの市長を務める野党・民主党のヤング氏がともに派遣を歓迎していると主張しました。

これについて、ヤング氏は記者会見で「私は州兵を支持しない」と述べ、派遣に反対の立場を表明しました。

トランプ大統領はこれまでに治安対策だとして首都ワシントンに州兵を展開させたのに続き、中西部のシカゴなどにも派遣する方針を示していましたが地元の民主党の州知事が強く反対するなどして派遣には至っていません。

今回のメンフィスへの派遣は、共和党の知事の州で治安対策の実績をつくり、民主党がトップを務める都市や州に受け入れを認めるよう、圧力をかけるねらいもあるとみられます。
