パナソニック、回収家電から100%リサイクル電気銅 製品へ再利用
パナソニック くらしアプライアンス社とJX金属は、使用済み家電から回収した銅スクラップを再資源化し、パナソニックグループの製品に再利用する循環スキームを共創し、9月から運用を開始した。
家電リサイクル法における使用済み家電4品目(エアコン、テレビ、冷蔵庫、洗濯機)から回収した銅スクラップは、従来から製錬業者等に売却し、銅箔や銅線、銅管など各種銅製部品の原料となる電気銅へ再資源化を行なってきた。しかし、再生電気銅が自社製品に使用される実際の量は正確に把握できていなかった。
今回パナソニックは、JX金属が新採用した銅製錬プロセスにおける原料から製品までの物量管理の仕組みを活用。供給した銅スクラップ相当分の電気銅を確実かつ正確に製品へ使用することを目指す。
この電気銅は、「スクラップのみを原料としている」と見なすことができ、鉱石の採掘等にかかる多量の燃料や電力などが不要なため、従来に比べ地球温暖化ガスの排出量が大幅に削減された電気銅となる。
JX金属の試算では、電気銅1t当たり、約2～3tの温室効果ガス排出削減効果があるという。これにより、パナソニックグループは従来よりもカーボンフットプリント(CFP)が大幅に低減された電気銅を安定的に調達し、銅製部品として製品に使用できるようになる。
今後、パナソニックは家電リサイクルを中心に銅スクラップの回収体制を強化、JX金属はリサイクル技術と管理体制の高度化を通じて、電気銅リサイクル比率の向上を推進していく。
