新型フェラーリ296スペチアーレ、遂に登場!!! 特別な“跳ね馬”は、やっぱりスゴい!!!!
フェラーリの新型「296スペチアーレ」と「296スペチアーレA」は、特別なスーパーカーだった！ 大谷達也が詳細をリポートする。

現地時間の4月29日、フェラーリは296GTBと296GTSのスペシャルモデルとして296スペチアーレならびに296スペチアーレAを発表した。
V8エンジンをミッドシップしたカタログモデルの特別仕様を、モデルライフの最終期にリリースするのはフェラーリにとって一種の伝統となっている。その第1作目は360をベースにして2003年に誕生した「チャレンジ・ストラダーレ」で、さらに「430スクーデリア」（2007年）、「458スペチアーレ」（2013年）、「488ピスタ」（2018年）と続いた（カッコ内は発表年）。296スペチアーレ並びに296スペチアーレAは、これらに続くモデルといえる。
初代にあたるチャレンジ・ストラダーレの名は、「フェラーリ・チャレンジ」と呼ぶワンメイクレース用レーシングカーの公道（イタリア語でストラダーレ）版を意味しているが、その思想は2代目以降にも引き継がれてきた。つまり、モータースポーツとの密接な関係が、スペシャルモデルの根幹を成すコンセプトなのである。
ただし、488ピスタまでと296スペチアーレでは重大な相違点がある。冒頭で記したとおり、488ピスタまでの各スペシャルモデルに搭載されてきたのはV8エンジン。
しかし、296GTBと296GTSは3.0リッターV6ツインターボエンジンとプラグインハイブリッド・ユニットを組み合わせたパワートレインを採用している。この点が、6代目スペシャルモデルの最大の特色といっていいかもしれない。
これを除けば、296スペチアーレのレシピは従来とほとんど変わっていない。すなわち、モータースポーツで用いられるテクノロジーを駆使しながら、パワートレイン、エアロダイナミクス、サスペンションなどをモディファイするというものだ。
たとえばエンジンには、強化型ピストンや先ごろ発表された限定モデル「F80」と共通のコネクティングロッドなどを採用。さらにクランクシャフトには素材に窒化処理を施したスチールを用いるなどしてパーツの高強度化と軽量化を実現した。
細かいところでは、エンジンブロックやクランクケースを鋳造する際に残った部分を細かく取り除く作業も実施。これはル・マン24時間を2年連続で制したレーシングカー「499P」でも用いられた工程だが、これを296スペチアーレにも採用することにより、エンジン全体で2.2kgの軽量化を成し遂げたという。
