北海道 函館市の五稜郭公園では23日、桜が満開を迎え、多くの市民や観光客でにぎわっています。
北海道でも有数の桜の名所として知られる五稜郭公園は、江戸幕府の役所の跡地に造成され大正3年に市民に一般開放された際に5000本の桜の苗木が植樹されました。
例年4月下旬になるとおよそ1500本の桜が開花し、公園全体を彩ります。
公園の中にある「ソメイヨシノ」は開花などの目安となる「標本木」になっていて、函館地方気象台は23日、満開になったと発表しました。
24日は多くの観光客が訪れ、記念写真を撮ったりゆっくり散策したりしながら満開の桜を楽しんでいました。
桜の満開に合わせて札幌から訪れた夫婦は「毎年来ていますがことしはちょうど満開の時期に来られてよかったです。五稜郭の桜はこれだけ本数があって最高です。日本一です」と話していました。
函館市の五稜郭公園の桜は今週末まで楽しめるということです。
