Amazon子会社のZoox、ラスベガスでロボタクシー開始 世界初
Amazonの子会社で自動運転タクシーを開発・運営するZooxは、ラスベガスで世界初となる完全自立走行によるロボタクシーサービスを開始した。

自社開発による車両は、運転席やハンドル、ペダルがない左右対称型の箱形デザインで、乗客だけが乗車。4人が向かい合わせのシートに座って乗車する。ロボタクシー専用車両による完全自律型配車サービスを提供するのは世界初としている。専用のスマホアプリ(iOS/Android)で配車が可能で、乗車料金は当面無料。
目的地は固定で、特定の乗降場所に専用ゾーンを設定。現地にはコンシェルジュも常駐して利用者をサポートする。アプリではナンバープレートを表示して、自分が乗るタクシーを識別できるほか、乗車状況のリアルタイム通知機能なども備える。サポートが必要な場合は、アプリのヘルプボタンからZooxのリモートサポートチームに連絡が可能。
今後、対象エリアを拡大し、乗降場所を増やすほか、サンフランシスコでのサービス開始も予定されている。
