ストーンアイランドが全世界100着限定のプロトタイプ リサーチ第8弾をリリース
ローンチを記念してTシャツとトートバッグも販売する。ストーンアイランド(STONE ISLAND)が「プロトタイプ リサーチ(Prototype Research)」の第8弾を全世界100着限定で5月28日(火）より販売する。日本ではストーンアイランド東京青山店限定で価格は18万2900円。

プロトタイプ リサーチは、研究・実験の過程で生まれた、未だ製品化されていないファブリックや加工を施したウェアで構成されるプロジェクトで2016年より不定期に展開している。
シリーズ第8弾は、自転車、ボート、そしてスポーツ分野向けに開発されたファブリックを使ったケープが登場。多軸構造のしなやかなパーツを起点に剛性の高いシェルを作ることを目指し、高度な工業技術を応用して誕生した。
特徴的なファブリックは、ストーンアイランドとインダストリアルパートナー3社とのコラボレーションで生まれ、柔軟性、透明感、撥水性を備え、なおかつ衣服として使える実験的な素材を作り上げるため、技術加工に改良が加わったストーンアイランドならではの特殊素材だ。
また、製造工程では天然の補強材として多軸構造のリネン織物をベースとし、さらにニードルパンチで極薄の不織布を結合させ、顔料を用いた最新のインクジェットプリン トを施し、脂肪族系ポリウレタンのフィルムを二重にラミネートしている。
1 着ずつが異なるプリントで制作された 100 点は、原初の世界を思わせる夢のようで有機的な風景を大きなフレスコ画に再構成。また、ケープのスタイルはストーンアイランドが 1982 年に発表した初のコレクション「Tela Stella」からインスピレーションを得ており、テントにも変身するミリタリーウェアの機能性を参考にしている。
