Anthropic、著作権侵害訴訟で2200億円の支払い
Anthropicに対する米国の著作権侵害訴訟において、5日(現地時間)に和解が成立した。Anthropicは15億ドル(約2,200億円)を支払うほか、多くの海賊版の書籍から作成されたデータセットを破棄する。
この訴訟は、AnthropicによるAIモデルの訓練・開発において違法なライブラリからの書籍の大量の複製が行なわれたとして、作家のアンドレア・バーツ(Andrea Bartz)氏らにより提起されていたもの。6月の判決では、著者の許可なく書籍を利用したことは米国の著作権法上は合法とされたものの、書籍の海賊版をコピーして学習していたことは著作権侵害にあたるとしていた。
LibGenやPiLiMiなどの約50万冊の海賊版が不適切に利用されたとしており、今回の和解が承認された場合、Anthropicは少なくとも15億ドルを支払うほか、これらのデータセットを破棄する。
米国出版協会(The Association of American Publishers)らはこの和解案を歓迎する声明を発表している。
