PayPay、ついに中国WeChat Payに対応
PayPayは、中国の大手キャッシュレス決済サービス「WeChat Pay」との連携を開始する。9月中旬以降から、全国のPayPay加盟店でWeChat Payでの支払いに対応する。
WeChat Payは、月間アクティブユーザー数が14億を超える中国「WeChat」の決済機能。支払いに対応するのは、利用者が店舗のQRコードを読み取る「ユーザースキャン方式」(MPM)の加盟店のみ。
2025年7月の訪日外国人は、前年同期比で4.4％増で、7月としては過去最高を記録した。25年上半期の累計は過去最速で2,000万人を突破するなど、訪日客は年々増加している。WeChat Pay対応により、特に中国からの訪日客の利便性拡大を狙う。中国本土からの訪日外国人は、25年上半期の累計で前年同期比53.5％増の471万人で、韓国の次に多い訪日外客数となっている。
今回のWeChat Pay連携により、合計14の国と地域で利用されている26のキャッシュレス決済サービスのユーザーが日本に訪れた際に、PayPay加盟店での支払いが可能となる。
