練馬区、美術館と図書館の解体を見送り
練馬区は、西武池袋線中村橋駅周辺で進めている練馬区立美術館と貫井図書館の再整備について、2025年度に予定していた解体工事を見送ることを発表した。

練馬区立美術館と貫井図書館の再整備は、西武池袋線中村橋駅周辺を「だれもがアートを感じられるまち」にする「美術のまち構想」により進められている計画。2025年度に解体、2029年度の全面リニューアルオープンを目指していた。
解体工事の見送りについては、再整備の一貫として行なった建設業界へのヒアリング調査などにより、業界の事情として施工が容易で利益率が高い事務所やマンションなどを優先的に受注する傾向が、これまで以上に強まっていることが示されたという。
こうした背景から、区が予定している工期では事業者確保の見通しが立たず、本体工事契約の不調リスクが高いことを理由としている。解体工事の見送りに伴い、来年度の着工も見送られる。
再整備計画の方針に変更はなく、今後も実現に向けて建設市場の動向を注視し、適切に判断していくとしている。
解体工事が見送られたことにより、美術館・貫井図書館・サンライフ練馬については2026年1月以降の休館の案内をしていたが、各施設ともに現在の運営が継続される。
