Claude、ExcelやPDFなどのファイル編集・生成に対応
生成AIの「Claude」を展開するAnthropicは、ExcelやWord、PowerPoint、PDFなどのファイルを直接作成・編集できる機能を提供開始した。同機能はMax、Team、Enterpriseプランの利用者を対象とし、Proユーザーも今後数週間以内に順次利用可能となる。

アップロードされたデータの分析レポートや財務モデルのスプレッドシート、会議資料などのファイルを指示に基づいて生成できる。また、PDFレポートをアップロードしてPowerPointスライドとするなどのフォーマット変換にも対応する。
この機能は、Claudeにプライベートなコンピュータ環境を付与し、コードの記述やプログラムの実行が可能になったことで実現した。ユーザーは必要な情報をアップロードするか、チャットで要望を伝えるだけで、編集可能なファイルが生成される。完成したファイルはダウンロードするか、Google Driveに保存できる。
利用を開始するには、「Settings＞Features＞Experimental」から「Upgraded file creation and analysis」機能を有効にする必要がある。最初はシンプルなレポート作成やデータ整理からはじめ、徐々に複雑なプロジェクトへ応用することが推奨されている。
なお、ファイル作成機能ではインターネットアクセスが有効となるため、機密性の高いデータを扱う際には注意が必要だとしている。
